What review sites and BBB show

BBB. As displayed on 2026-10-20, the BBB profile for Babylist, Emeryville, CA shows BBB Accredited Business and a BBB rating of A+ (raw page data: accredited July 12, 2023; file opened April 24, 2019). The complaints tab says "111 complaints in the last 3 years" and "15 complaints in the last 12 months", and BBB notes that a review of complaints was completed in March 2026. BBB warns that the text displayed may not represent all complaints filed. The customer-reviews tab shows "1 /5 stars" and "Average of 27 Customer Reviews" as displayed on 2026-10-20; this consumer-review figure is separate from the A+ business rating, from the complaint count and from Trustpilot, and the figures are not combined.

Topics of the ten complaints on the first page of the complaints tab (dated February to September 2026; page 1 of 11, so this is not the full set and is not a count of themes): the $8.95 Hello Baby Box shipping and processing fee; a refund withheld for a return that Babylist says the carrier reported as containing no contents; a diaper bag warranty routed to the manufacturer; use of a store credit balance after an order was cancelled; Hello Baby Box eligibility wording; a car seat manufacture date; a car seat delivered to a saved address; a breast pump claim processed as out-of-network and an order cancelled after insurance became inactive; and a stolen package. Babylist responded to each. In several it described a courtesy exception, refund or replacement; in others it declined the request and explained why, and some customers rejected the response.

Trustpilot. As displayed on 2026-10-20, Trustpilot shows 1.3 from 67 reviews for babylist.com, an unclaimed profile, and the statement that it does not fact-check reviews. This is a separate source from BBB and from this site's own archive, and the figures are not combined.

Product recalls. CPSC's recall data (searched on 2026-10-20 with the Retailer field set to Babylist) lists babylist.com among sale locations in 11 recall records from 2020 to 2026, including the Love To Dream portable sleep machine recall of September 24, 2026, the TOMY Boon PIVOT step stool recall of July 16, 2026 and the Babysense Max View baby monitor recall of February 26, 2026. These are recalls announced by those manufacturers, not recalls of Babylist, and they are not a list of every product Babylist has sold. Check cpsc.gov/Recalls for the item you own.

Babylist complaints: returns, refunds, Hello Baby Box and breast pump orders

This page was checked on 2026-10-20. Babylist has no complaints in this site's archive, so the practical steps on this page come from Babylist's own Terms of Use and Help Center, and the documented record comes from BBB, Trustpilot and court dockets.

  • Returning a Babylist Shop item. The Help Center says Babylist "accepts returns for Babylist Shop items within 9 months of the purchase date" and that items must be unused, unopened and in original packaging. Returns are started from the Gift Tracker or the Returns Center. It says returns are free, refunds are issued "within 5 business days after your return arrives at our warehouse", gift cards cannot be returned, and Babylist does not offer exchanges. Items bought from other retailers through a registry must be returned to those retailers.
  • Damaged or incomplete orders. The Help Center asks you to keep the item and packaging and contact support with a description, photos or a video, a photo of the shipping box, your order number, and your name and shipping address.
    More detailShow less

For an item that stops working, the Help Center says that if it is no longer eligible for return, the manufacturer's warranty is the route for repair or replacement.

  • Contacting Babylist. The Help Center lists [email protected], chat and a phone line at +1 (510) 422-1043, with phone hours of Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. ET and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. ET.
  • Hello Baby Box. Babylist's Help Center says the box is a free welcome box but that getting one requires several steps: adding three items from other stores to the registry, completing 40% of the registry checklist, making a minimum purchase of $30 from the Babylist Shop (orders from Babylist Health or other retailers do not count), and paying $8.95 (plus tax and surcharge) for shipping where applicable. It says the shipping fee is non-refundable, that the order cannot be changed or canceled once placed, and that Babylist Gift Cards and return credits cannot be used for shipping. Eligibility is limited to a U.S. address (not APO/FPO/DPO), an arrival date less than nine months away or a baby born less than four weeks ago, and one box per household and per registry. The Help Center says box contents vary and are "typically valued at around $100".
    More detailShow less

The Terms of Use add that the promotion is available while supplies last and that Babylist makes no warranties about the box or its contents. Several BBB complaints concern this box; see the BBB section.

  • Babylist Health breast pumps. Babylist Health's help center says an insurance upgrade fee is the amount you pay for a pump that costs more than your insurance covers, and that upgrade fees "aren't covered by insurance and aren't refundable once your insurance claim has been processed".
    More detailShow less

The Terms of Use say that if insurance denies a claim the purchaser is "solely responsible" for it. Babylist Health's order-status article says it runs a final insurance verification shortly before shipment and submits the claim to the insurer when the pump ships, and another article says it does not currently accept HSA or FSA cards as direct payment for upgrade fees (reimbursement can be sought from the benefits administrator). In a May 2026 BBB response Babylist said some claims had been processed as out-of-network and were being reprocessed.

  • Disputes. The Terms of Use contain a binding arbitration clause, a class action waiver and a mail-in pre-arbitration step; see the company background section for the wording and the opt-out deadline.
  • If Babylist does not resolve it. You can file a complaint with BBB, the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov) or the California Attorney General, and ask your card issuer about a dispute. For an insurance denial, your insurer is the first stop. These are general consumer routes, not steps Babylist's pages describe.

  • Slaviero and Davis v. Baby List, Inc. (N.D. Cal. 3:25-cv-09496, filed November 4, 2025). On April 22, 2026 the court granted Baby List's motion to compel arbitration and dismissed the case with prejudice. The order says the plaintiffs sued "for various privacy-related torts", with one claim under the Federal Wiretap Act and two under California law, alleging Baby List helped third parties collect their answers to the onboarding survey. The court found the sign-up page gave reasonably conspicuous notice of the Terms of Use, which contain an arbitration clause delegating arbitrability, and that neither plaintiff opted out. Judgment was entered April 24, 2026 and the case was terminated April 27, 2026. No appeal appears on the CourtListener docket as retrieved (last updated July 31, 2026).

Frequently Asked Questions

Who operates Babylist?

The Terms of Use say the services are provided by Baby List, Inc. and its subsidiary Babylist Financial Services, LLC, and give a notice address of 1900 Powell St, Suite 150, Emeryville, CA 94608. The About page lists Babylist Health, Expectful and the Babylist Shop as part of the company.

What is Babylist's return policy?

The Help Center says Babylist Shop items can be returned within 9 months of purchase if unused, unopened and in original packaging, that returns are free, that refunds are issued within 5 business days after the return reaches the warehouse, that gift cards cannot be returned and that exchanges are not offered. Soundly mattresses have a 120-day window, and Beverly Hills Showroom purchases must be returned in-store.

Is there a fee for the Hello Baby Box?

Babylist's Help Center says the box itself is free but requires an $8.95 shipping fee (plus tax and surcharge), which is non-refundable, after a $30 minimum Babylist Shop purchase and other registry steps (three items from other stores added and 40% of the registry checklist completed). In a September 11, 2026 BBB response Babylist said the fee is a required shipping and processing charge and, in that case, approved an exception as a courtesy and refunded it; in a June 2026 response it waived the purchase requirement as a courtesy. These are two individual cases and do not show how other requests were handled.

Who pays if insurance denies a Babylist Health breast pump claim?

The Terms of Use say that if insurance denies or challenges a claim for the prescribed supplies, the purchaser "will be solely responsible for the claim". Babylist Health's help center says upgrade fees are not covered by insurance and are not refundable once the claim has been processed. In a May 2026 BBB response Babylist said certain claims processed as out-of-network were being reprocessed and that the member in that complaint would not be responsible for the balance.

How do I contact Babylist customer service?

The Help Center lists [email protected], the chat bubble or Contact Us link, and a phone line at +1 (510) 422-1043. Chat hours are Monday-Friday 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m. ET and Saturday-Sunday 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. ET; phone hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. ET and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. ET.

Can I sue Babylist or join a class action?

The Terms of Use contain an arbitration agreement administered by JAMS, a class action waiver and a jury trial waiver. They allow opting out in writing within 30 days of first registering or of the Terms being updated, by mail to Baby List, Inc., ATTN: Legal at 1900 Powell St, Suite 150, Emeryville, CA 94608. In Slaviero v. Baby List, Inc., a federal court enforced the arbitration clause on April 22, 2026.

What is Babylist's BBB rating?

As displayed on 2026-10-20, BBB shows Babylist (Emeryville, CA) as a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, 111 complaints in the last 3 years and 15 in the last 12 months. BBB says it does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties.

What does Trustpilot show for Babylist?

As displayed on 2026-10-20, Trustpilot shows 1.3 from 67 reviews for babylist.com on an unclaimed profile and says it does not fact-check reviews. This figure is separate from BBB and is not combined with it.

Has Babylist been sued?

CourtListener shows three recent dockets naming Baby List, Inc. (Justia also lists two older federal cases, from 2020 and 2014, whose outcomes were not read): Slaviero v. Baby List (N.D. Cal., dismissed with prejudice after arbitration was compelled on April 22, 2026), See v. Baby List (S.D. Ind., voluntarily dismissed in September 2026 after a notice of settlement) and Thomas v. Baby List (N.D. Cal., removed August 14, 2026 and pending as of the last entry read). The claims in the last two are not stated in the docket entries read.

How do I find someone's Babylist registry?

Public Babylist registries can be searched on the Find a Registry page by entering the registrant's first and last name and selecting Search; results show the registrant's name, city and due date if provided. Only public registries appear in search results. The Help Center says private registries can only be viewed by people who have a direct link from the registrant or shower host.

How do I use a Babylist discount code?

Babylist Shop discount codes can be applied in the cart or at checkout. In the cart, open Offers in the order summary and select Apply next to a code. At checkout, enter the code in the field labeled Gift card or discount code and select Apply; the total updates once the code is applied. Some discounts apply automatically when eligible items are in the cart. The Help Center says discount codes apply only to items sold and shipped by Babylist, and that codes from other retailers such as Target or Amazon must be used on that retailer's website and won't work on Babylist.
