Contacting Arwa Yemeni Coffee, gift cards, ordering and allergens: what its own pages say

The Arwa Coffee pages quoted below were opened on October 4, 2026. The Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy on arwacoffee.com each show “Last Updated: 2025”; no company name appears in either.

Which company runs the shop you visited?

The website does not say which entity runs each shop. The franchise disclosure document (FDD) of Arwa Coffee Franchising LLC, filed with the California DFPI (issuance date April 20, 2026), does. Its Exhibit I lists three “Affiliate Owned Locations”: Richardson and Frisco, Texas (Arwa Coffee LLC) and Irving, Texas (Arwa Coffee Irving LLC). For franchised shops open on December 31, 2025, it lists these franchisee companies: INAB Food Group Inc (Sunnyvale, CA), Levant Café LLC (New Haven, CT), Tower Group Investment Holdings LLC (Naperville, IL), Misfood LLC (Cedar Park, TX), Coffee Gurus Murphy LLC (Murphy, TX), and RM Coffee LLC, shown with a Plainfield, IL address and the same phone number that the Locations page gives for the Bolingbrook shop.

Exhibit I also lists franchisees that had signed agreements for shops not yet open on December 31, 2025; the addresses match the Locations page entries for Chicago (Bucktown), Schaumburg, Addison, Arlington, Houston (Westheimer Rd), Richmond, Spring and Temple Terrace. The Brookline and Johns Creek entries do not appear in Exhibit I, which reflects year-end 2025, and Exhibit I gives a different McKinney address from the one on the Locations page. Exhibit I is a snapshot, so the name on a receipt, card statement or the shop’s own paperwork remains the most direct way to identify the operator of a given location today.

The press also quotes shop owners: the Associated Press (May 2, 2026) quotes Ahmad Badr, “who owns an Arwa Yemeni Coffee franchise in Sunnyvale, California”; Brookline.News (May 26, 2026) names “franchisee Zaid Baara” for the Brookline shop; Community Impact (September 24, 2026) says the McKinney shop “will be owned by six friends”.

• Terms and Privacy Policy: “please contact us at [email protected] or (214) 782-9749”. The same phone number is listed on the Locations page for the Richardson, Texas shop (888 S Greenville Ave Suite 223).
• Locations page: most entries show their own street address, phone number and email address (for example a city name followed by @arwacoffee.com); the Richardson, Frisco and Irving entries use [email protected]. The McKinney, Spring and Westheimer Rd (Houston) entries showed no phone number on October 4, 2026, and the Temple Terrace number is printed as “813-988=0008”.
• Contact form (arwacoffee.com/contact): subjects “General Inquiry”, “Catering/Event Booking Request”, “Franchising” and “Hiring”, with a location list that begins “Headquarters - Not Location Specific” and then names Frisco, Richardson, Austin and Bolingbrook. The form has no separate complaint or refund subject, and its location list differs from the Locations page (Austin appears on the form; Cedar Park appears on the Locations page).
• Franchise inquiries: the FDD cover page gives [email protected] and (214) 784-2004 for questions about the disclosure document.

Gift cards and online ordering

The site menu has a GIFT CARD link to an eGift page at arwacoffee.myguestaccount.com and ORDER NOW / ORDER AHEAD links to arwacoffee.orderexperience.net, whose loading screen shows “Paytronix”. In our browser the gift-card page was blocked by a security screen (“Sorry, you have been blocked”) and the ordering page showed only a loading screen, so any gift-card terms (expiry, fees, refunds, replacement) and ordering terms were not read; read the terms shown at checkout before paying. The Terms and Privacy Policy on arwacoffee.com do not mention gift cards, rewards or refunds. The FDD, which is addressed to prospective franchisees, mentions gift cards in two places: Item 6 lists a $60 fee paid “to our designated third party vendor” for “customer rewards, and/or gift card system and redemption”, and the form franchise agreement (Exhibit C, section 7.12) says “Franchisee shall honor all valid gift cards and other pre-paid systems, regardless of whether issued by Franchisee or another Arwa Coffee business.” These are terms between the franchisor and its franchisees; the FDD does not state expiry, fee or refund terms for customers. The FDD also says the franchisor is “developing a mobile ordering app”.

Merchandise shop

arwacoffee.com/shop listed these items on October 4, 2026: four candles ($25 each), Camel Necklace ($35), Canvas Tote Bag ($20), Glass Bottle ($25) and Coffee Bag ($25). The Terms say “You may browse our products and make purchases for personal, non-commercial use” and “Arwa Coffee shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of this website or our products, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.” No returns, shipping or refund page was found on the site pages checked (home, about, menu, locations, shop, contact, privacy).

Allergen and ingredient information

The Menu page lists drink names under “Traditional Drinks”, “Ice Refreshers”, “Arwa Signatures” and “Classics” without ingredients, allergen or nutrition details, and no allergen or nutrition page was found on the pages checked. The FDD (Item 1) says “We require you to serve only approved products so that nutritional and allergy disclosures are accurate”. Pastries are described differently by the press: CultureMap Fort Worth (May 26, 2026) says “individual franchisees select a local bakery to supply additional pastry offerings”, and Palo Alto Online (January 19, 2026) says the Sunnyvale shop bakes its pastries in-house. Anyone with a food allergy would need to ask the specific shop about ingredients.

Other complaint routes

For a card payment you dispute, the card issuer; for a consumer-protection complaint about a business, the attorney general of the state where the shop is (the Texas Attorney General’s “File a Consumer Complaint” page was opened on October 4, 2026); for a food-safety concern, the local health department for the shop’s city or county. Inspection records are kept by those local agencies and were not compiled for this page.

Company background: shops, franchising and the entities named in the franchise disclosure document

Brand and shops. Arwa Yemeni Coffee (the site also uses “Arwa Coffee”) serves Yemeni-style coffee and tea. The About page says it was “established as a way to share the rich Yemeni culture” by “a family with deep roots in and fond memories of Yemen” and that the name honours Queen Arwa. The Locations page of arwacoffee.com listed 20 shops on October 4, 2026: 11 in Texas (Richardson, Frisco, Irving, Cedar Park, McKinney, Murphy, Addison, Arlington, Richmond, Houston, Spring), four in Illinois (Bolingbrook, Naperville, Chicago, Schaumburg), and one each in California (Sunnyvale), Massachusetts (Brookline), Florida (Temple Terrace), Georgia (Johns Creek) and Connecticut (New Haven). The page does not say which of them are open; two entries (McKinney and Spring) show “Map not available”, and Community Impact reported on September 24, 2026 that the McKinney shop was due to open in early October.

Entities named in the franchise disclosure document. The FDD (issuance date April 20, 2026) is the franchisor’s own disclosure to prospective franchisees. It is part of the filing on the California DFPI Regulated Entities List (renewal application filed 4/20/2026, effective 7/31/2026), where the downloadable documents include the FDD, the order of effectiveness and the franchisor’s response letters. Item 1 states, with formation dates as written in the FDD:

• Arwa Coffee Franchising LLC, a Texas limited liability company formed in November 2023, is the franchisor, with its “principal business address” at 1300 N Interstate 35, Suite 100, Carrollton, TX 75006. “We do not have a predecessor or parent entity.” It has offered franchises since February 14, 2024 and does business “under the trade name and service mark ‘Arwa Coffee’ and ‘Arwa Yemeni Coffee.’”
• Arwa Coffee LLC, a Texas LLC formed on February 8, 2022, has operated a corporate-owned shop at 888 S Greenville Ave Suite 223, Richardson, since December 2022 and opened a second at 3211 Preston Road, Frisco, in July 2025.
• Arwa Coffee Irving, LLC, formed on February 27, 2024, operates a corporate-owned shop at 7763 N MacArthur Blvd, Irving.
• Arwa Distributors LLC, formed on December 26, 2023, “provides certain goods, and proprietary and branded merchandise” to franchisees and corporate-owned shops.
• Arwa Coffee IP Holdings LLC, formed on December 27, 2023, “owns and has licensed us the right to use and sublicense the use of Marks”. USPTO records opened on October 4, 2026 list this company as owner of the ARWA registrations (see the legitimacy section).

Item 2 names Faris Almatrahi and Yazan Soofi as managers of the franchisor since November 2023. The sections read do not state who owns the franchisor or the affiliates.

Franchise terms as stated in the FDD. Item 5: initial franchise fee $40,000, “non-refundable upon receipt”; a multi-unit development agreement has a fee of $40,000 for the first shop plus $20,000 for each additional shop, with a three-shop minimum. Item 6: royalty of 4% of Gross Sales; Brand Development Fee currently 1% of Gross Sales (the franchisor reserves the right to raise it to 3%); local marketing 1% of Gross Sales; technology fee currently $150 per month. Item 7: estimated initial investment for one shop $237,300 to $614,600 ($277,300 to $654,600 for a three-shop development). Item 3 (Litigation) reads “No litigation is required to be disclosed in this Item.” Item 20: at December 31, 2025, 6 franchised outlets (California 1, Connecticut 1, Illinois 2, Texas 2; the FDD notes that one franchised outlet opened in 2024 is a coffee cart) and 3 company-owned outlets, all in Texas; 17 franchise agreements signed for shops not yet open. The FDD’s cover page states that “no government agency has verified the information contained in this document.” Third-party summaries of earlier FDDs give different fee figures; the figures above are from the 2026 document itself.

Shop counts differ by source and date. Besides the FDD’s year-end 2025 count above, the Associated Press (May 2, 2026) quotes co-founder Faris Almatrahi describing “a chain with 11 cafes across the U.S. and 30 more in development”. CultureMap Fort Worth (May 26, 2026) says the brand has added “12 locations across Texas” plus shops in Illinois, Massachusetts and Connecticut, with 15 under construction. Global Coffee Report (September 7, 2026) writes that “there are 17 ARWA locations across the United States” and quotes Yazan Soofi: “We have another 17 locations set to open in the next few months.” These are different dates and sources and are not added together here.

Founding dates differ. A blog post on arwacoffee.com about a Dallas Observer award says Arwa Yemeni Coffee “was founded in 2021 by Nora Soofi, Yazan Soofi, and Susan Shihab”. Palo Alto Online says “Founded in 2020”; a franchising.com listing says 2021; CultureMap Fort Worth says the first shop opened in Richardson, Texas in 2023. The FDD says its affiliate has operated the Richardson shop since December 2022, and the USPTO records for the ARWA coffee-shop registration state a first use of March 1, 2022 and first use in commerce of December 24, 2022. Because the sources differ, no founding year is given in this page’s header.

People named in the press. CultureMap Fort Worth says Arwa “is a family business co-founded by Yemen native Yazan Soofi, his wife Susan, his sister Nora, and his brother-in-law Faris Almatrahi”, and that “To fuel their aggressive expansion, the co-founders shifted to a franchise business model.” The About page calls the company “majority female-founded”.

California franchise registry. The DFPI Regulated Entities List contains an entity named Arwa Coffee Franchising LLC in the “Franchises” industry, with franchise filings from 2024, 2025 and 2026 (details in the legitimacy section).

Website terms. The Terms text on the privacy-policy page names the website as “http://18.226.28.166” (an IP address) and says content is “the property of Arwa Coffee”; it does not name a company, address or governing law.

Franchise inquiries. The contact form has a “Franchising” subject that asks which city, state or territory the visitor is interested in, how familiar they are with franchise structures, how much liquid capital they have and whether they intend to borrow.

A search of approved posts for “Arwa Yemeni Coffee”, “Arwa Coffee” and “arwacoffee” in the company field, title and text on October 4, 2026 returned none; other posts that contain the letters “arwa” inside other words concern other businesses.

• Better Business Bureau: a search for “Arwa Coffee” across the U.S. returned six results, none named Arwa; a search for “Arwa Yemeni Coffee” returned no results; searches for “Arwa Coffee Franchising” near Richardson, TX and near Carrollton, TX, and for “Arwa Coffee LLC” near Richardson, TX, each returned “No results”. No BBB profile for Arwa was found in these searches.
• Trustpilot: the pages trustpilot.com/review/arwacoffee.com and trustpilot.com/review/arwayemenicoffee.com returned “The page you’re looking for could not be found”, and a Trustpilot search for “arwa coffee” listed only unrelated businesses (for example “Arwa Shop”, arwa-shop.com).
• ComplaintsBoard: a search for “Arwa Coffee” showed “No reviews matching ‘Arwa Coffee’”.
• Review platforms organised by individual shop, such as Google Maps and Yelp, were not compiled, because a rating for one shop does not describe the others or the brand.

Is Arwa Yemeni Coffee Legitimate?

USPTO records opened on October 4, 2026 show live registrations owned by ARWA COFFEE IP HOLDINGS LLC (a Texas limited liability company; address of record in Carrollton, Texas): ARWA, Reg. No. 7294422, registered January 30, 2024, for coffee, tea and related beverages (Class 30); SWEET LIKE YEMENI TEA, Reg. No. 7299256, registered February 6, 2024, for “Coffee shop services; Coffee shops; Tea shops” (Class 43); ARWA COFFEE, Reg. No. 7437669, registered July 9, 2024, for coffee, tea and coffee beans; and ARWA, Reg. No. 7629413, registered December 31, 2024, for “Coffee shop services; Coffee shops; Tea shops” (Class 43, application filed January 20, 2023). Each shows status “Registered”. Item 13 of the FDD lists these same registration numbers as owned by Arwa Coffee IP Holdings LLC, plus Reg. No. 7846154 (“Yemeni Ice”), which was not opened separately.

The California DFPI Regulated Entities List shows Arwa Coffee Franchising LLC under Franchises with three filings: a franchise application filed 3/21/2024 (effective 10/30/2024), a registration application filed 4/30/2025 (effective 7/29/2025) and a registration renewal filed 4/20/2026 (effective 7/31/2026). On the same record, the Notices section reads “No Notices found for this entity” and the Actions and Orders section reads “DFPI has no published actions or orders against this entity” (the record covers the past ten years). The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions list of active franchise registrations, opened October 4, 2026, includes “Arwa Coffee Franchising LLC” with expiration 4/21/2027. A franchise registration is a disclosure filing and is not an endorsement or a review of the shops’ service.

In its FDD, the franchisor states under Item 3, “No litigation is required to be disclosed in this Item”, and under Item 4, “No bankruptcy information is required to be disclosed in this Item.” These are the franchisor’s statements in a disclosure document, not the result of a court search.

Other searches run on October 4, 2026: CourtListener’s federal docket (RECAP) search returned 0 results for “Arwa Coffee”, “Arwa Yemeni Coffee”, “Arwa Coffee Franchising” and “Arwa Coffee IP Holdings” (state courts and other federal dockets not covered); a search of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall database by title for “Arwa” returned no recall naming Arwa. Not checked: Texas Secretary of State and other state business registries, franchise registries of states other than California and Wisconsin, state attorney general data-breach lists, and local health-inspection records.
