Ripoff overcharging for car payments

I have been paying off a car loan, for the past 4 yrs. I was told i have to payoff 12300.00. I've paid that, now they say i still owe until oct. i added up all my payments, after oct i would have paid almost 16,000.00 for this car (2002 dodge neon), when i try to contact them they give me the run around, also they called me and said i was missing a september payment from how can you say i miss a payment from almost 3 yrs ago, thats bull, i faxed all of my payments slips to them they claimed that they didnt get them, i need some help, i know that they are ripping me off. I'm tired of sending them money, and they won't tell me the exact amount thats owed to them, should i keep sending them money?
