Lost Payments and Higher Escrow After Mortgage Takeover

Business & Finance

My story is basically the same as all the rest of the stories about this company. They lost a phone payment and a mailed payment, and I just had to bite the bullet. Their investigating department said they would get back to me and never did. I couldn't get any action when I called for follow-ups. Customer service doesn't know a thing. They kept putting me on hold so they could go get the right answer from the big boss behind the desk.

It was just a bunch of hogwash and a waste of time, and nothing was ever resolved. They kept switching me to different departments, only to wind up right back where I originally started. Still nothing but the typical runaround.

CitiMortgage bought my First Nationwide Mortgage, with which I never had problems. All this took place during their transition process. I coughed up the two payments they lost just to keep out of the red on their end. Now I have a higher escrow amount for some unknown reason, so I asked if I could take care of my own taxes, and they said no. Plus they made me raise my homeowners coverage to some outrageous amount, higher than I ever had to carry before. In my eyes it is pretty obvious what they are doing, but my hands are tied until more of us fight this thing.
