Escrow $4,000 Short After Wrong Taxes Paid, Payment Up $900

Citimortgage paid someone else's property taxes out of my escrow account and failed to pay my taxes altogether. The amount taken out of my account has left my escrow balance in the hole by close to $4,000.

Even though they were notified of the error well over two months ago, they have failed to correct the problem. Instead, they increased my house payment by $900 to cover the escrow deficit and tagged me with a late payment after I paid the old mortgage amount. This was even after I called in for approval to pay the old amount until a correction could be made.

I was told the final resolution of my problem would be 4/16/03. It is now 4/30, and it is still not corrected.

I am trying to refinance and have locked into a very good rate, but I cannot close because I cannot get a correct payoff amount.

The customer service department is absolutely no help, and the supervisors, who are also no help, refuse to call back. I have never had these problems with any other mortgage company. Don't ever use Citimortgage!
