Billed $32.08 for 2008 Pay Per View After Final Payment

DirecTV customer service suck, Reason why is because I cancelled my account three months ago due to poor customer service, paid my final bill and returned their equipment, three weeks late I got a bill in the mail saying that i hold them $32.08 for pay per view back in 2008. Because when I paid my final bill my account balance was zero, so I asked one off the representative to send my all my statement for 2008 so I can verified the charges, now they are telling me that they don't know if they can go that far back. In my opinion they are tiring to rip me off. Can I take a legal action because this is ridiculous
