Account charged without permission after cancelling, overdrawing my bank

I cancelled my directv services last week, and told the direct (non) customer service rep to send me a final bill via mail and I'll pay all legitimate charges. She said ok, a few days later 2-22-10, directv charged my account (without my permission), forcing my bank account to be overdrawn. When I called directv the (non) customer service rep stated that's directv's agreement to store credit card information, and charge it when they feel the need without your permission. I've filed complaints with BBB, and the local atty general, this is illegal, and against the fair billing act, and I can't believe directv is still in business.
