Funding, LP Harassment and add on charges after cancelation

Monitronics Security Systems purchased the local, initial, small business, that I had my system installed by.
After two years of unemployment and on time payment. I called to cancel the service with Monitronics in August. I was told that they would give me 3 months of free service and then reduce my payment from $25 to $19.95 per month. I agreed and continued to look for employment.
In November of I called Monitronics to again cancel the service. The representative stated that I had to give the a written letter and 30 day notification. We again discussed the earlier credits and that I would owe a $45 dollar cancellation and final month fee at end of service. I wrote the cancellation letter and mailed on 11/10.
I stated receiving phone calls several times a week a week and letter in the mail stating that I owed a balance which kept increasing with late fees added.
On 12/13 after getting tired of phone calls and letters and thinking that my service was to be cancelled after the 30 day notice I had mailed; I called Monitronics. I was told by the representative that I now owed $78.49 in fees and penalties. I was told that I had "verbally' agreed to an extension of services until January 18 when I had accepted the 3 free months.
I have never received a new contract stating this and this was never disclosed to me during my conversation with the Representative in August. I view this as a very high pressure company that uses trumped up charges to increase revenues. I would not recommend them to anyone for a Security System.
