Monitronics International
Contract Automatic Renewal Scam, Fraudulent Billing, Misrepresentation

Shops, Products, Services

I knowingly signed a three year contract on home security monitoring. After two years, I sold the house that was being monitored. I called Monitronics to say that I would honor the last year and pay the monthly bills, but would not be renewing.

After the three years is up they still send bills. I also sent a letter requesting cancellation at the three year mark, but they sent a letter to me 4 months later saying that I missed the deadline for cancellation, and continue to send bills. They are no help on the phone and their legal dept does not return my calls. The Monitronics representative who sold me the service even said that this could not happen due to a Florida consumer protection law, yet it is happening.

Why should I pay for services that I do not use, do not want, and even requested to be cancelled long before the term was up?! Monitronics is engaged in dishonorable business practices. For your own good, do not do business with them.
