Rebate Not Applied: Billed $68.86 Instead of Quoted $48.86

In December I signed up to get DirecTV installed. After listing options, I was shown that my bill would be $48.86 a month. I thought this was all I needed to do to receive all the rebates mentioned in their literature. Service and installation were no problem.

In January I was billed $68.86 a month. I called to see what the problem was with the rebate deal. They said it did not go through online, but I could get it now, plus an additional savings by paying through a credit card. So I enrolled in that, thinking everything was taken care of.

In February I got a credit card statement still showing $68.86. I called again. They said they have to wait until the rebate is received, and THEN they give you the discounted rate. I was told it was NOT received in January but would go into effect now. But they will not credit my account for January or February for the difference. Why do they think I called them in January?

Nowhere in their ads do they say when the rebate will go into effect or that they have to wait for a while. I think this is completely misleading.
