Rebate and credit never received - Dishonest billing and record keeping

I too am an unfortunate fool who signed up for Direct TV. They advertise their packaged deals and tell you that you have to complete the rebate form that will be mailed with your first bill in order for the "special deal" (rebate) to apply. The bill finally arrives and no rebate form. I call customer service and am told I have to call the rebate center which I do, and when I finally get to someone I'm told they will take care of it and it will show up on my next bill. A month goes by and my bill arrives, no rebate, no special package deal price. I call again and am told that they cannot credit my account retroactively, but will give me $21.00 plus free HD programing ($10.00), off my package for 12 months. Today I recieved a letter from the rebate center stating that the rebate would not be applied as the rebate was recieved after the 90 day application period. Another phone call and I'm told that nothing can be done about the rebate, but they will apply a $20.00 discount to my bill for the next 12 months. I am upset at this point, and tell the representative that I don't know that I can believe him as I've been lied to by their people in the past. I guess the next bill will tell.
