Billed $19.75 Monthly for MLS Package I Asked to Remove

Last spring I ordered DirecTV's "MLS Direct Kick" so my husband and son could watch all of the LA Galaxy's matches. This is a combination package done with Qwest, with which I have everything bundled. I ordered the MLS package from DirecTV.com.

When we could not get the Galaxy's home games, we called DirecTV and asked why. They said it was considered a home game and was blacked out. A blackout area? Hello, we are in Phoenix and this game is in Los Angeles! There was no need to have this package if we could not see ALL of the Galaxy's games, so we told them to cancel the package after the end of the season (it renews each year unless you specifically call to cancel).

At the end of the season in December, I went to the DirecTV website on our account and saw that it was still a pending order for next season. It would not let me take it off our account. It said I had to call to change the status. I called DirecTV and asked why it was on there in the first place, because we had said that after last season we wanted it gone. I was informed it was never taken off (obviously), and they wanted to know why I didn't want it. I explained why and said that if we couldn't watch ALL of the Galaxy games, we didn't want any of it. I was told it would be taken off.

Fast forward to my last Qwest billing. I am being charged $19.75 per month for the next 4 months for MLS Direct Kick. I called Qwest, who in turn put us on a three-way call with DirecTV. I was informed that since it wasn't cancelled before the season, I owe the WHOLE amount! I told her that I did talk at length with DirecTV reps, whom I told to take it off my pending account well before the season even began.

I am told it is too late for this season, but I was told what to do for next season, which I had already done, yet I was still charged this year. So what can I do to assure it won't happen again? The reassurance was telling me to do what I already did before the season began. Like that really helped! They will not credit me and will continue to charge me this season. Something needs to be done to stop this company from these unfair practices.
