UPS falsely advertise their redelivery policy for undeliverable packages.

I am an outside sales person whose salary is 100% commission. Needless to say On the first delivery attempt by UPS I was not available and a note was left on my door that an attempt would be made the following day after 5PM.

So I cancelled appointments and drove from West Palm to Miami (approx 90 miles) to receive the delivery. I returned home at 4:15PM and much to my dismay a UPS InfoNotice was on my door stating that another attempt had been made. I phoned customer service and was told that the driver for the route was off and that a sub tried to make delivery at approx 2:30PM. I informed to customer service that I could not afford to take off nor could I pick it up. UPS's managers would not dispatch anyone to deliver the package that evening nor would they hire a delivery person to deliver it even though it was not my fault (but I was being blamed). Is this GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE or is it @#% &%#?

Needless to say I lost money and they wanted me to loose more. The moral of the story is do not rely on getting a package from UPS when stated and use a competitor if customer service is important.

Plan Ahead and Receive Your Shipment on the First Attempt

To receive your shipment on the first delivery attempt, track the shipment and leave a note for the driver on the scheduled delivery day. The note can instruct the driver to either leave the shipment, or, if a signature is required, deliver it to a nearby neighbor who is home during the day. Other options include having shipments sent to an address where someone is available during the day.

UPS makes up to three delivery attempts, excluding weekends and holidays. All C.O.D. Shipments will be returned to sender the same day as the final delivery attempt. We will hold other shipments for five business days after the final delivery attempt.
