Unauthorized $416.68 Debit After Cancelling in July

I purchased my own equipment; no service man or anyone from DirecTV has ever been at my house. I have always put my own dish up and my own boxes in.
I recently cancelled DirecTV (back in July), and now it is Christmas day. Merry Christmas!!! I was told my account was cancelled in July. Now my checking account is overdrawn, and I just retired. They took $416.68 out of my account without my permission. Then I was charged 270.00 for fees from my bank. Is this legal?
I called 3 times today and they hung up on me twice, but I am not finished. This is wrong, and I want my money put back in my account. They never sent me anything in the mail. I am so angry.
