No Lien Release Nearly Two Years After Car Loan Payoff

We refinanced our house to get the money needed to pay off this debt. It was paid off in full in November. Now, nearly two years later, we still have not received the lien release.

Since May 29th we have been trying to get this taken care of. First they said it was sent to the bank. We checked with the bank, and they never received one. We called Citifinancial back. They still said they sent it to the bank because the check had the bank's name on it. We finally went to the bank again, and the bank called Citifinancial and explained that they were never sent a release.

After many, many phone calls to India and sometimes Texas, they said it would be mailed out on the 19th of June '08. Today is the 30th, and now they are saying they will mail out another release within 2 to 4 days.

Incidentally, the bank has no interest in the car at all. It was only because we sent Citifinancial the bank check that they (supposedly) sent the release to the bank. Also, the bank stated that if Citifinancial had sent it, it would have been in our files.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I don't know how well that will work, though.
