Auto World, Auto Repair ripoff extra revenue from unneeded engine repairs

I am writing this today to let you know about my experience with the Sisbarro's Auto Repair shop. I took a 2002 Pontiac Montana in on a Thursday, I had noticed the engine was beginning to over-heat the day before and it had the distinct sound of the water pump going out. I was checked in by a man I'll call Kiko, who told me he would call me and let me know the progress of the van. I had not heard back from Kiko, so I called him at 4:30, to which he told me to call back the next day.

The next day came and I made several more attempts to call Kiko, he returned my call at 3:00 and told me it was the water pump and thermostat that had both gone out and he would get back to me with more details. At 5:00 P.M. I showed up at the auto shop and Kiko said it would not be until Monday for parts to come in and that it would be at least a nine hour job.

I told him that I then needed a rental or loaner vehicle, which is covered by the warranty. He got on the phone and told me that the car rental place was closed? (the rental place does not close until 6:00) He then told me I could take the van home and to bring it back on Monday. I asked him several times, as did my mother, if it was safe to take it that way. He assured us both it was. It drove hot all the way to where I live.

My husband went to the shop very upset on Saturday. He made sure that Kiko understood the seriousness of having the van leave the shop/lot with the water pump and thermostat in bad condition, Kiko said he would get the van towed back to the shop on Monday, and get a rental car for replacement until it was fixed.

Since that time I understand from a reliable source that a new young machanic in this shop took the liberty of tearing apart the engine for the reason and I quote He jumped the gun, before anyone called us or the warrenty company! They covered themselves saying it was due to the gasketsleaking and they worried the heads were warped! Nice save... This also is 12 days later! If I didn't know someone that works in the back I never would have known...
