Amex Platinum discontinues Domestic Partner Airfare Program

Received a letter today that Amex Platinum is discontinuing their Domestic Partner Airfare Program on November 15. I called to complain. They said they are not compensating their cardmembers (partial refund of annual fee) or will they be reducing their annual fee on the card which is $450/year.

Amex has taken away the largest monetary benefit of having the card.

They said the reason they discontinued the program was there was not enough participation. That is such bullsh*t. The real reason is they received so many complaints from cardmembers trying to use the program they decided to kill it. The blackout dates, and airline restrictions were just too much to take for most people.

Without this benefit, this card is CERTAINLY not worth the cost.
