When I signed up with Direct TV I was not the leaseholder of the residence I lived in. Three months are beginning my service the leaseholder was evicted and I was forced to move. I moved into a location that did not allow satellite installation but I continued to faithfully pay my bill month are month expect 6mos where I suspended the service. I would call the customer service several times during this period in order to find some relief and none was forthcoming. I recently talked with a service rep who advised me to place a move order and because I did not have any private area to set up a dish or could not obtain the landlord's permission then a failure to acquire line of sight would be noted and I would be allowed to cancel my contract with reprecussions. The move order was set and technician showed up but he failed to note that line of sight could not be attained. I called customer service and they would not allow me to cancel without penalties. They said the customer rep did not place in the notes that she had told be that the failure of the landlord to grant permission was a failure to acquire line of sight. So I am stuck with paying the canceling the fee. So for 1 year 7 months of payments I have received 2 and half months of service. This company is a ripoff and its lack of compassion for its customers circumstance which are beyond their control is hearless. I have never seen a company that wouldn't work with its customers. This company does not rate anybody's business. This is a major caveat emptor.
