Purchased a Sony 40" KDL-XBR4 LCD TV on 12-8-08 from Best Buyit's cost was $2499.00. Beautiful TV, Great Picture for 6 months. The first week in June it developed vertical rainbow lines in the center of the screen that made it impossible to watch anything. The Sony outsourced service tects came by on June 9th to take a picture of the screen with their camera to send to Sony. Six weeks later after three biweekly calls from us, the tects replaced a part that lasted only a few seconds. We were told we needed a new TV. Sony disagreed and ordered yet another part. Six weeks after that, after three more phone calls from us to Sony it was determined that the second part has been back ordered and they do not know when the part will be available, a new model is not an option, because they no longer make this model, and our only solution is "to accept a reconditioned model, or continue to wait for the part to no longer be back ordered." An additional kicker is that our one year warranty is still ticking (three months wasted so far waiting for it to be fixed!) and the reconditioned tv will not come with a new warranty!!! This was not a cheap tv. I cannot believe Sony's service (or lack there of). I am so frustrated with this company. I just want my money back, don't want to deal with Sony any more. Looked around the internet, this is not an isolated case, unfortunately for us.
