Sears Tallahassee Governors Square Associate LIED regarding RMA

May I bought a Craftsman Lawn Tractor, $1100 at Tallahassee Sears store. The sales associate #208, repeatedly assured me that if I purchased the 3-year Repair Maintenance Agreement, and did NOT use it during that 3 years, that at the end of the Agreement I would get a full refund.

I DO NOT normally ever buy service agreements, warranties, etc. But because he repeatedly assured me I would get the total price refunded, I did buy it. It was $329.99 plus 7% sales tax, for a total of $353.*. The contract expires May and February 15 I called 1-800-4-MYHOME to begin getting my refund.

Well - surprise. I was told by the CS guy that I would get $88 back. Period. I explained that I had never gotten any repairs or parts or service, and I had been promised I would get a full refund. No Dice, he said.

I spoke to a manager at the Winter Park, FL office, where they handle the RMAs, and he told me flat out that the Sales Associate lied. He gave me the Asst. Managers name & number in Tallahassee for the Lawn & Garden. I began calling that afternoon 2/15 - and as of 3/01 have YET to get any response, phone call, letter or ANYthing.

The Tallahassee Sears at Governors Square must be extremely inept. I did talk to one woman there who told me that the salesman was probably "some college kid" who was not trained. I have left messages and my phone number for that assistant manager, and for the Head of Operations for the Tallahassee store. March1 & still no reply, no callbacks.

Sears in Tallahassee on Apalachee Parkway apparently is trained to not only LIE to consumers in order to sell useless RMA at inflated prices, they are also trained to hunker down, stay silent, hope if they ignore irate customers (or ex-customers in my case), we will just shut up and accept getting ripped off. (uhhh - not in the internet age!)

The practices and schemes Sears uses selling Repair Maintenance Agreements smell to me exactly like the fraudulent mortgage brokers of the last 8 years. They repeatedly LIE, avoid the customer, and refuse any sort of amends.

I would avoid the entire Sears store in Tallahassee - if they will treat a customer of over 30 years like this - CS, loyalty, trust mean nothing to them. Just the total on the cash register, and the hours on the time clock. Period. It's disgraceful, dishonest, and seems to be their standard MO.
