K-Mart return policy consumer rip off scam

It was two years ago when I returned some items to my local K-mart here in Memphis Tennessee. They said they would give me a card to buy any other merchandise in the store instead of cash. When they gave me the card, there was no mention of the 12 month deadline to use the card!

So one nice woman at the service desk is calling some 1-800 number to dispute the use of the card for me. While I was waiting, I watched the other woman take in return items, give out those cards, and I watched the customer walk away with no mention to the customer that they have to use the card within 12 months or you lost your credit. Apparently, after you signed for the return, they then process the card and hand it to you, with not one word to the customer that the card is invalid if you do not use it in 12 months.

Finally the customer service people came to the phone, I explained what I just witnessed above to them after them telling me, yo must use the card within 12 months. So I asked if I could have the merchandise I returned to them a year and a half ago!

I then asked Lalo from the 1-800 customer service (on a hunch) your not a part of K-mart are you? He said no we are not. I said so you are just a company that is there to just tell the consumer NO. I asked him if there is anything he does say yes to the people that call in. He admitted not really. "We just try to talk to the consumer and explain store policy." "We can make no changes and or make any decisions."

The name of the company is Stored Value Systems. Lalo was the useless jerk on the phone.

So, if you are returning anything at K-mart, you have to use your credit within 12 months or your SOL.

I would also like to take this opportunity to tell the usacomplaints.com people what a great job you do. The help I see you have given to consumers dealing with car dealers is amazing and commendable. Keep up the good work. I will be on the look out for other consumer rip offs and will report them here for everyone to see.
