DirecTV
Early Termination Fee Charged Despite No Line of Sight

Shops, Products, Services

I transferred my mother's Direct TV service in June, but before we moved, one of the workers at the apartment complex told me that I would not be able to receive a signal where I was moving (in the same apartment complex but on a different side). I informed Direct TV, but they said that they still had to come out and check, and that if there was no line of sight, I would not be charged an early termination fee because I can't receive their signal.

They came out on June 12, and the guy called me at work and told me that they did not get a line of sight, which is the signal. So I called Direct TV, and they told me that they would send me some boxes for the receivers, and again I was told that I would not be charged an early termination fee.

I got a statement a week ago, and they charged my card for an early termination fee. When I called them, I spoke with a supervisor named Christopher, and he said that I should not have been charged because I could not receive the signal. He told me to call back on the following Monday so that they could refund my money. I called them back and spoke with a supervisor named Rose, and she told me that even though I didn't cancel the service voluntarily, I still will be charged the early termination fee.
