Stealth contract. Been a customer 13 years and still under contract?

I have been a Directv for about 13 years. They say I am under contract with them and since I cancelled early I owe $255.78. They can't produce service agreement with my signature, it was supposedly on the bill after I got a DVR and if you paid the bill you automatically agree to the contract. I don't think that is a very trustworthy way to do business and I am not paying it. This will be the only blemish on my credit report but I am paying casdh for everything anyway. Beware of Directv!!!
