Upgrade to HD changes term of service

Our original contract was for 18 months. However, when we purchased an HD television, we had to change our receiver with DirecTV to an HD receiver. What we did not know, and the company did not tell us when we spoke to the rep to order the change, is that the company automatically changes your term of contract to two more years from the date of the equipment change. Consequently after our first 12 months of service, our bill went up $32 per month, and when we called to inquire about that increase, we discovered our "contract" not only had increased $32 a month, but our term of the contract was automatically extended for another 2 years from that installation date. That is, at least, deceptive, as their rep never informed us of that policy, and probably illegal as this is definitely deceptive business practices. At very least, I would tell anyone considering doing business with these unscrupulous people, to demand a clear contract, in writing, before you agree to anything. Frankly, I'm going to reduce my service to the bare minimum and tell everyone I know how this company deceives people.
