Ground delivery never attempted, bedridden relative at home

I totally agree that FedEx Ground is the worst shipping company out there. I use FedEx services all the time and also get cigars from Switzerland in 2 days, and I cannot believe anyone could do that. FedEx Ground is run completely differently than the rest of their services. If you do not have a tracking number on a package and you call their office the first time they claim to have tried to deliver and no one was home, they will eventually return it to the sender if your phone number is not on the shipping label. This all slows down your shipment.

Several months ago I had a package that I was expecting from FedEx Ground. The tracking information on their site said they attempted to deliver twice. Normally you would think this is very possible, but in this case it is more than unlikely. I have my mother-in-law, bedridden on hospice, living in my condo. This condo is on the top floor and is in a very quiet, nice neighborhood. I have a nurse staying with her any time my wife and I go to work. There is always someone home. When someone knocks on the door, it echoes through the small condo across the hardwood floors. Even a light tap is very loud. The driver claimed to have tried to deliver twice and even told his supervisor that he left two notices. I tell you this would be impossible, not only that someone would not answer the door, but also that a notice would disappear from my doorway, which is protected from the weather and wind.

I am sure there are good drivers as well as bad ones, but the problem also lies in the 1 hour drive each morning from Florence, South Carolina to the Myrtle Beach area, with shipping offices in the Myrtle Beach area that do not handle the Ground shipping.

The manager that I talked to at FedEx was very polite and totally agreed that the package was not attempted to be delivered. He apologized, and I did eventually receive it about a week after it was due.

I will not stop using FedEx by any means, but I will never buy anything that will be shipped FedEx Ground.
