Kitchen Remodel Over $14,000: Rude Staff and Countertop Delay

Over the past 8 to 10 years we have had several thousand dollar projects completed by Home Depot and their contractors, and we never had a problem until this kitchen remodeling project, which cost over $14000.00. The installer for the new kitchen cabinets was great. The Home Depot designer, Mary Boyd, was super, outstanding, extremely thorough, professional and knowledgeable. Chris (I can't remember the last name) was also super, outstanding and extremely knowledgeable. However, Andy was rude and short on the phone and desperately needs to work on his customer service skills. He was very annoyed when the contractor we hired to put in the ceramic tile floors had to call and ask questions before starting the project.
The countertop contractor, Cameo Countertops, and a scheduler named Stacy did not return our phone calls and were not accommodating, helpful or courteous when the ceramic floor was installed. The measurement for the countertops in our home was done on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 8am. The same day my wife and I called her at two different times, 9am and 9:30am, and she never returned either call. I finally got hold of her at 9am on Wednesday and she did not offer an apology for not calling us back and basically had an "I could care less" attitude. When I asked her how long it would be before they could install the ceramic countertops and reinstall our kitchen sink and dishwasher, she informed me it would be another 4 weeks or more because they were busy. I told her this was unacceptable and that I would speak to Home Depot.
I spoke with Chris in the kitchen department at Home Depot, 3200 Secor Road North, Toledo, OH 43606, (419-537-5406), who informed me that there was nothing Home Depot could do and that she could not get the date moved up. I informed her it was the final part of our kitchen remodeling and we did not want to wait another 4 weeks or longer to get this project completed. I told her my wife and I wanted a different contractor and that Cameo Countertops should not have taken the job if they could not complete it in a timely manner. Needless to say, I told her that if she did not have another contractor, I wanted my money back and would go to Lowes or The Andersons, your competitor, and get the job completed. She then refunded my $2000.00. We had spent over $14000.00 in a bank cashier's check, and you wanted the entire amount up front.
After all the money we spent over the years at Home Depot, and being good customers for years, now, after this disaster and a rude and incompetent contractor, we will not take our business to Lowes or The Andersons. You just lost a valuable customer, and that is too bad. You should have a better selection of contractors who practice customer satisfaction and customer service first.
Good bye and have a great day.
