High End Units=Low Value, Cover for Volume Dealers Allow deception with the 10yr Labor Warranty - XL20i and XC95m

Year 1 - Expansion valve and 2.3 pounds of Puron. Year 2 - new inner coil and 7 pounds. $2000 in two years so budget. Think you have labor coverage, keep reading.

The aluminum inner coil they use is known to have defects. Our original dealer showed a 10 year labor warranty on the same line as the parts when we placed our order. After the install fiasco I called Z& in Tyler, TX, Trane's warranty department and he assured me if we left the original dealer and went to a new one, all warranties would stay in force so there would be no issues. That was not true. Trane allows their dealers to pocket hidden money in the quote and they are supposed to provide the labor. If you leave that dealer, the new dealer has no 10 year labor warranty as it was deceptively not done through Trane and you get to pay for all the labor on all the defective parts.

We had a bad install and the Trane field engineer agreed with my wife and I but said he would not get involved because this dealer was their #1 Indiana dealer in terms of units sold and got in his truck and left. Trane helps with the deception and so do their internal staff.

We have contacted the IN State Attorney General on the dealer and are considering doing the same on Trane in IN and TX.
