Trane
American Standard Defective Evaporator Coil in 2 yr old Furnace

Construction & Repair

Trane is good at making money evaporate but not moisture

I had XR95 Professionally installed less than 2 years ago, Suddenly last month no AC, Technician found that there was a defective evaporator coil. Trane did replace the Evaporator Coil under warranty but cost for installation was over $600.00 in Labor. (this is not a home owner friendly installation, usually takes about 2 - 4 hours and requires recharging the system)

I understand that Trane does not cover labor without an extended warranty. IMO Labor should be covered for defective parts, especially if the evaporator coil failure is epidemic. From my research it seems that the evaporator coils are a common weak point in the Trane AC Systems.

One of my main issues with Trane is their very poor customer service. Over the past month we have tried to contact Trane Customer service via Phone, Chat and there Online Email Form (black hole) all are unsuccessful in even a response. Now trying to contact someone within Trane via Linkedin or Tweet. I suspect there will be a class action law suit associated with this issue sometime in the future.

Easier to Stop a Trane than advertised
