Inflated debt claimed after Triad Financial takeover, car taken, then collector letter

Santander bought Triad Financial and told me I owe them $10,000. I told them I only owed about $5,000. They kept giving me the runaround, and I was also told that simple interest was applied. Before I was one month behind in payments, they took my car. Now I have received a letter from Management Services Incorporated stating they bought this debt from Santander and that I owe $6,355.11. Please help me.

If they had taken the car back the first week I purchased it, when it felt like something was kicking in the rear of the car, I would not have gone through all of this stress, but they told me there was nothing they could do because I bought it and it was mine. It had only 44 miles on it when I purchased it, and the car was taken back to be looked at several times.
