Title withheld and disputed deferred-payment balance claimed after final payment

I was forced to hire an attorney because Santander refused to send my title. I paid my final payment to Citifinancial on 7/14. I then received a letter from Santander claiming I still owed $4,065.00. I disputed this alleged debt and asked Santander to send me documentation showing what the amount was for. I was told it was for deferred payments. I replied, "Send me all the deferred agreements with my signature so I can verify this." Ms. Bricket replied that they were verbal. I asked for copies of the tapes, and again was told no; I would have to subpoena them!

I then verbally requested a copy of my title, to make sure it was a clear title, a copy of the contract that I signed, and a detailed accounting, to the penny, of every payment, fee and late charge and how the interest was applied. The copy of the contract was very small, but it has clearly been altered. The title has gaps in its history, and Citi is not shown as the lienholder.

They have harassed my family, threatened to have the police at my door, and contacted my 73-year-old mother, claiming to be an investigator for a consumer protection agency and saying I needed to contact them at the number she was given. On 4/15 a letter was sent requesting verification of this, and the alleged amount owed to Citi is now $4,265.46. Santander is the servicer for them. As of 6/11 there has been no response and no title.
