My wife and I purchased a 16 ser clean effects 2” split system on January 5 for 4,175.00 dollars we had it installed by a contractor recommended by “ Trane” threw their website. From the very first week we had the unit the heating coil in the Air Handler began to burn waking us up during the night thank god for our smoke detectors. The contractor replaced the coil. Then in April when we first put on the Air conditioning it did not work contractor replaced the computer Board. Same month trouble with the clean effects coil working sporadically. Contractor bent the clips and no problems until! Month later same problem contractor came fooled with clips. Until may clean effects not working contractor came said he had to order parts then called and said Trane said they don’t make the parts, then said they do. Calling and writing trane and the contractor resulted in no results. I contacted the better business bureau on September 13 5 months
after the problem started and receiving no replies to my letters except “were waiting parts” On September 28 The contractor called tranes Territory Manager in s. Florida Raul Guerrero Jr who came over with the contractor and was able to find the problem the collector and the filter were the problem. 2 parts ordered on September 28 the parts were ordered 2 weeks later the contractor arrived and one part the filter was the right part but the collector coil was the wrong part. I contacted Mr. Guerrero by phone and he said he would follow up with his parts dept. Guess what after getting the replacement part a week later that was the wrong part. I contacted Mr. Guerrero again by fax and never received a call back as of today October 28 its been almost 10 Months since May when this problem first started I called Mr. Guerrero at 8:30 this morning and left a message.

My conclusion Tranes rep seams to be either inept or detached, The contractor recommended by Trane is not properly trained in the Equipment and the parts dept. Is either incompetent or negligent, you can make up your own mind if your still interested in buying a Trane (just don’t let it roll over you.
