Manufacturing Defects in Trane Central Air Conditioners for Residential Use

Construction & Repair

We too were victimized by Trane with respect to a residential a/c unit. We did get the company to admit there is a design flaw (which was described here by another victim of Trane) in their product, which is caused by the use of aluminum coils instead of copper, and they did admit it was a "continuing problem." Our wonderful service tech company who installed the unit for us 6 years ago went to bat for us with Trane, and got them to replace the defective parts, reimburse the contractor for all the related service fees, and gave us a credit for the replacement coolant which needed to be refilled because of the defective parts.

Well... Here we are one year after that fix and the unit has gone bad AGAIN!!! Trane will indeed be held accountable this time for any and all charges associated with this next fix, and frankly, we are going to ask that they replace the ENTIRE UNIT free of charge.

If they won't agree, then off to court we go. This is an admitted and documented design flaw, and in this state, we have no limits on implied warranties or incidential or consequential damages, so Trane will indeed PAY UP.

Just wanted to warn any others out there about Trane and their products. Might even enjoin American Standard in the court action if it comes to that, since they are the parent company.
Do not buy a trane!!!
