Rude Collection Calls, $60 Reconnection Fee and Late Charges

This is a lousy company to deal with. A year ago I signed up for Directv for their low prices, which I thought would beat the cable company. My contract ended in August of this year, and they seem to think customer service has to be rude and crude to people.
I complained a lot about the service, from the satellite dish to the sound to the picture. They gave me a song and a dance, telling me it could be the cloud cover or that my area has bad weather. When I did receive picture, there was no sound, and when I received sound, there was no picture. I told them about it, and all they did was hit the receiver box a few times to refresh my service. I had to physically disconnect the box, plug it back in, hit the red button, and take out the Directv digital card and place it back in for it to refresh. It always told me I lost the satellite in bad weather. Searching for satellite, it had an error message on my screen, error 771, for me to call Directv and get the tech department. I was angry for the first 30 minutes I was talking to them. The lousy service is part of this report.
The rudeness of the customer service staff is the other part. They think they are above the law, that they can humiliate you and make you feel like garbage. I have finished my contract, and I slipped up on some bills. I lost my job and was struggling to make ends meet. It was either go without food or TV, so I had to disconnect my service so I could eat. They gave me a hard time about it. They said the disconnection was not called for. They call me 3 times a day every day to hound me for the money I do not have. I told them that when I receive a paycheck I will pay it with MoneyGram or take it to the dealers they deal with and pay the bill.
They called me a liar and said I stole TV services from them. A woman who worked at the Kentucky site told me to be quiet, that she did not want to hear my lies, that I needed to hush so she could finish her sentence, and that I needed a reality check on business practices. She told me that I am going to go to jail for lying, that I am a bad person, and that I need to be taught a lesson in manners.
They disconnected me a few times and then reestablished service. What they do not tell their so-called customers is that they charge you a 60 dollar reconnection fee and quickly add it to the bill so they can get more money out of you. If you are a day late, they are quick to have you in collections and have the ladies hound you for the money you owe, so they claim.
Since I have had them, a year ago until now, this company has been nothing but a huge pain. I am sick and tired of the carelessness and the rudeness they show people over the phone. I have been sworn at and called vulgar names. I have been called a thief and a liar many times over the phone. I have been called a deadbeat and a lost cause by the females of the offices that call me. They lie and they are deceitful in many cases.
My last bill was 133.33. They told me that I had to pay it before I was allowed to get my services back, because I had made an arrangement for the 1st of the month that I would pay, since I am on unemployment and I get paid then. They told me that they wanted a credit card or a checking account. I told them I had neither. They asked how I got the services, and I told them I went into the dealers you have here in Pennsylvania and paid in cash for my services. The dealer did a credit check, and I had to pay 250.00 in up-front costs to get this service because I had bad credit and a bankruptcy.
They told me in many cases that I can pay with MoneyGram and with my Swipe and Go card that they gave me because I paid my bill in cash. I had to drive out of my way to the next town to pay this bill, and I had to wait 4 hours for them to turn on my services again. When I did pay my bill, they told me that my MoneyGram payment bounced and that I could not get my services back on. I told them I had given the code that they gave me and the address, and apparently it was not the right code. So I had to call MoneyGram and get my money back. They took fees out of the funds I had MoneyGram pay for my Directv bill. The ladies claimed I never wanted to pay my bill and that I am a loser, and they hung up.
They added fees to my bill, and it went from 133.33 to 203.33. They charged me 70.00 some dollars for services they claimed I owe and used. When I questioned part of my bill, they got mad at me. Then I was told to be quiet many times and to listen.
My bills were averaging from 80.00 to 100 a month. They told me it was due to service charges and fees. They cried to their TV viewers that cable is suing them for the right to tax their viewers, meaning big cable is greedy in many ways. I told them I would not sign that lawsuit, and I was told that if I did not, I would lose my services. Well, I did not, and they gave me a hard time. They tossed in charges that were not legal. They disconnected me when I was a day late with the bill. They made me pay a late charge of 3.5 percent on my bills each month when I was late, and they charged me a 60 dollar fee for reconnecting me when I was supposed to be blacked out, in the words of their agents.
They do not do arrangements. Once in a while they waive a bill to help the consumer, meaning they make a note that you will pay on a certain day, and if not, they will stick you into collections.
They are lousy in many ways, starting with their services, and their customer service reps are crude and rude from the beginning. They think they can yell to get their voices heard. Calling 3 times a day is ridiculous, and I am fed up and sick of it.
