Extra $25 Repacking Charge on Two Already Packed Boxes

I sold a heavy item (a set of pottery) on eBay. Wanting to be fair to the buyer, I lugged the heavy boxes (the site says two smaller boxes are cheaper than one huge box) to the UPS store to get the cost of the two, with 400.00 shipping on each box. The clerk was very helpful and did provide an amount for both boxes. I told the buyer and was paid.

After the buyer's money order arrived, I returned to the same store with both boxes packed tight, with no room for movement. A different clerk insisted that should there be breakage, UPS would not pay without their peanuts as packing. The clerk opened the first box, removed the paper stuffed tight into a very small space, and proceeded to tell me it would have to be packed by them to insure coverage. So the store got another 25.00 (on top of the outlandish ground costs) on two boxes that were packed tight, with each item wrapped and taped with tons of bubble wrap and extra foam sheets or thick cardboard between each item.

They never opened the second box. My bet is they retaped my boxes and shipped them, as there was very little space for their precious 'peanuts.'

When the store first opened, I took in three old 3X5 photos to be copied and preserved and had to 'return the next day, as they were out of the right kind of photo paper.' The bill the next day was 22.00 for 3 photos on one 8.5 X 11 photo paper.

Even though this store is closest and I try to conserve gas, I will never step foot in the store again.
