Miscellaneous

Never thought I'd fall for a scam like this. FRC called saying they could save me money on magazines. Five of them for five years only $49.95 a month for 40 months. All they needed was a check and a credit card back up. I said no a number of times. FRC said it was too late, they had already sent in the order in my name, and that I could cancel after only one month. Took them around six tries to get to say what they wanted on their recording.

A few months latter I was laid off work. I sent them a letter canceling my contract. They took the payment from my credit card. When I saw that on my statement I gave them a call to ask what's up. The account manager said
I only had seven days to cancel. I also discovered that the payments were for longer a time than I was told. I really felt I'd been had.

A couple more months go by and I get a letter from FRC saying because of my good payments, they would reduce my payments to $39.95 I said O.K. To the lower payments. After a few payments, I get a call from an account manager who said his name was Ryan telling me that I had two accounts with them, and for sevenhundred some dollars He would then close both. I told him I only had one. He said I had one for $49.95 and one for $39.95, and that he even a recording of me approving the second account. He then asked for a blank check number so I could e-check the money to him. I refused, and he became extremely belligerent. At this point I didn't even think he was a part of FRC. That he was just a con trying to get my checking account info. Told him I would call him back in twenty after I checked with FRC. I called FRC spoke with the receptionist, who check on her computer and said that I only had one account. That the first was closed. I asked her if there was a Ryan working for them. She did not know, It was a big company she said and did not know everyone. 45 min latter Ryan called back. I told him I checked and had only one account. He said that If I did not send in the settlement then he would reactivate the other account, and I'd owe a lot more money. I refused. Latter I started getting two bills a month. Seams Ryan did work for FRC after all.

The final straw was a third order they claimed I made. I sent the cancellation back by Express Mail. Well with in the seven days. Today (9-19-08) I received a postcard from PPSB Verification Dept. That a "independent office" has requested magazine subscriptions on my behalf. Saying that I agreed to make 29 payments of $39.95. I sent them a letter telling them not to send any magazines. We'll see how they respond.

I've canceled my credit card. Changed my checking account. If any one knows an attorney or lawyer who is looking at a class action suit. Please let me know.
