Outrageous Fees

This may seem petty to some but I thought the public should know about some of Bank of America's ridiculous practices. I recently checked my online statement and noticed an unusual maintenance fee for $8.95. So, I called the Bank of America customer service and asked about it. The customer service rep told me it was bacause I had made a deposit in a branch. I live in South Korea most of the year. Every great once and a while my mother will get a residual check for me from an old business. She naturally decided to go deposit it. The check was only for a little over $10.00. There is no other way for her to deposit it other than going into a branch because the check is in my name. This will happen maybe two or three times a year. I explained this to the customer service rep who responded by saying it is the banks rules, if you use a bank teller, you get charged a maintenance fee. I responded by saying, "so basically what you are telling me is the next my mother receives a check for me of this nature she should just throw it in the trash because the bank will take $9.00 of a $10.00 check." The customer service rep replied, "yes." I have had this account for over 10 years. I also have a savings account with the bank and this is the treatment and response that I get. Amazing!!!
