Best Buy
On-line Price Fraud

Electronics and household app.

I had never done business with Best Buy, which I had thought to be a reputable company, until last week. I attempted to purchase a refrigerator and wall oven through their website as advertised in their online catalog. The purchase prices on both items were advertised at approximately $150 below other companies plus they advertised free delivery. Wow, sounded great. When I attempted to purchase online, I experienced problems, so I called the toll free number and ordered on the phone. The young man took my order, received my credit card information and my e/m address for confirmation, gave me a Best Buy order number and a delivery date. I was very happy with my purchase. The next day, however, I checked my email for my confirmation and found none. I checked the BB website and using the order number I had been given, tried to check my order status. Imagine my shock when the order number and my name cannot be found in their system. However, upon calling my credit card company, in fact, I did find they had put through a charge for the $1,790 purchase price. And so the odyssey began back and forth with the customer relations dept over the next four days to try and locate my order. Passed from one person to another, I finally reached a manager only to find out that my order could never be found as it appears to have been a "ghost order!" With no explanation to satisfy me of a ghost order translation or why they would put through a credit card order and not be able to trace it, I called my credit card company to dispute the payment. Thankfully, the charge is now gone from my card. However, perhaps I myself found the translation for "ghost order". I went back in to the BB online catalog. (and this was only 3 days later) Lo and behold! The appliances I had intended to purchase are now listed at higher prices! @! If BB is going to conduct business online, they should honor the prices they have listed at the time the order was made not mysteriously lose the order because they intended to change the price in the coming days. Best Buy is Bad Business as far as I am concerned. My business with them is done.
