VIP put too much oil in during an oil change then said there is nothing wrong with this! Ripoff

Cars & Transport

During a oil change visit at VIP on Stillwater Ave in Bangor, I noticed the form they make you sign had the incorrect vehicle listed. I asked the manager to change the form to the correct car, which he said he did without me signing again. I again asked if he changed it, which he confirmed the secound time. The mechanics then tried to sell everything else that was "wrong" with my car telling me "This part is real bad" They wanted to change belts, coolant, you name it. He then showed me a color chart of my coolant, showing it was crystal clear and should be green. I thought to myself, I came here for a oil change! I said please just change the oil.

A week later, after putting 300-400 miles on the vechicle, I had major problems with my car. It would not start for 45 secounds of holding the ignition down, when it did, smoke came from under the hood. It sputtered and bucked a mile down my road, I turned around and checked the oil in my driveway. It was an inch higher than the safe mark on the dipstick. I called the manager at VIP immediately, and ignited a 15 minute argument with him. He was oppisite of helpful, to say the least, and insisted I was on my own until I got angry with him. He was condescending and was obviously ready for an arguement that made you, the customer, look stupid.

Well, the manager called me back after talking with his boss and he said we will tow the car under the condition that, "if we can't find anything wrong with it, you pay the towing" I agreed, because I figure there was already too much oil in the thing. I had it towed to another garage first, and they confirmed it was over filled with oil and that it was running bad.

VIP kept my car for a week. They kept me on hold for long perods of time, they wouldn't return phone calls, you name it. The mechanic finally told me that there is nothing wrong with it and that I needed a coolant flush, because the coolant was brown. I also had replaced the radiator 11 months prier. They apparently put it though "hundreds of dollars worth of tests" and all came back negative. I asked if there were any charges, they said "no".

I went in at 5 oclock to pick up the vehicle, where I was confronted with the sales and service managers. They said "The coolant is bad, and I highly recommend a a power coolant flush, because your coolant is mud colored". Then they charged me $70 for the tow. I began to argue that there was something wrong with the car by the mere fact that there was too much oil put in it. They ganged up on me and again used their condescending tactics. I paid and left. Now I my be stuck with a blow motor.
