Fast Eddie's Oil Change
They put the wrong oil filter on, my van ran out of oil... And guess who they blame... Me!

Cars & Transport

I had an oil change on 12/21/07 and on 12/28/07, my van seized up and I broke down. When I opened the hood, I saw the oil filter lying on a bar under the motor. I called the manager, who came and put a new filter on and added oil and it started right up. He had me follow him back to the shop and on the way my van overheated for the first time ever, since I have owned it. I let him know this by calling his cell phone, he gets out of his truck to look sees that it is running in the red. I get back to the shop, they open the hood, look at it, spend the majority of time on the phone and have me sign a receipt of what happened. I did not receive a copy and did not ask because the manager told me that my van has a sensor to prevent engine damage due to lack of oil. As a female, I am limited with my knowledge of automobiles and I am not a certified mechanic, so I trusted them.

My van continued to run hot and finally reached a point that it actually began to overheat to the point of pulling off the road. I then took it to my dad to look at, we thought that perhaps it was a stuck thermostat, so a certified mechanic told him to do a coolant cleaner purchased from the local auto store. When that did not work, we took it to a certified mechanic who said that there were things wrong with my motor all relating to having my oil run out and filter falling off.

I went back to Fast Eddie's. The district manager is trying to tell me that the coolant cleaner did the damage... When the fact is, they are not certified mechanics and the engine had damage from the instant the filter fell off... My van I have found since then, does not have a sensor. They are also saying they don't believe me that the van overheated after the filter fell off... However, the store manager witnessed it. The owner won't return my calls.

Fast Eddie's is not even licensed by the State of Michigan or any oil change facility for that matter. They hire anyone off the street and they are not certified. I would not trust them to open the hood on my vehicle.
