Strange phone call Ripoff

A woman called asking for my wife. I asked who was calling. The caller identified herself as Rachel. She wanted to know if my wife knew a young man named Travis, who she said lived across from me. I asked where she was calling from. She said Phoenix, Arizona. I expected her to identify who she was representing, but never once during the call did she mention the name of the company.in regard to the young man sought, I said that it was no one directly across from where I lived, but I knew someone down the street, and in any case, I did not remember the name of the young man. She gave me a number to call back, 1-800-993-1875, and she mentioned the full name of the young man: Travis Cody McComas. At one point, I seem to recall having answered "yes" to one of her questions... Perhaps when she gave me the phone number and asked me to call back if I heard from the man.

In any case, curious who had called, I called back 1-800-993-1875 to find out what I could. The operator who answered said Drive Time. I could hear a number of other phone operators in the background... The sound of a boiler room operation. This time, I spoke with a man, mentioning that the woman had called. He asked her name. I told him Rachel. He asked if I wanted to speak to her. I said yes. He placed me on hold, and then within seconds returned from hold to tell me that she was busy with another call. At that point, I told him to disregard, and he ended the call.

Is this a phone scam? If so, details would be greatly appreciated.
