Known defective Upper and Lower Intake Manifold Gasket. You're screwed, GM doesn't care!

Cars & Transport

We own a 1991 Pontiac Montana Mini-van with 81,000 miles on it.

Started leaking anti-freeze, we could not find the source until last week when all hell broke loose.

The upper and lower intake manifold gaskets (that we've found internal documentation sent to dealership repair departments stating that the intake manifold gaskets were defective and would deteriorate prematurely)

Meanwhile... Last week, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets finally went out and caused the water pump to leak (suspect of course since we didn't get that part back, but got the rest of them back)

Cost to repair $1189.53... Plus $119.86 for 3 day Enterprise rental car. Thankfully Geico towed us with our emergency roadside assistance with our insurance.

Talked to a very nice lady at GM who said she'd call the authorized Pontiac dealer we took to have the repairs made.

She called back the next day telling us basically to go screw ourselves given the 'age' of the vehicle and the 'high mileage' (81,000 miles on a 6 yr old vehicle??? Give me a break!)

So basically the Canadian Class action lawsuit against GM is still in process but the US class action lawsuit against GM for this defective part and repair costs has been kicked out as of March few weeks ago.
Too many lemon laws, too many jurisdictions... Our only recourse now is to take GM to small claims court here locally.

We can't afford to off this vehicle now that we've put so much money into repairs and went into debt to fix it.

(add on the RJM Acquisition Funding LLC report I filed today that is trying to collect a bogus Fingerhut debt that never existed... Trying to ruin our credit)

You can best be assured we will NEVER own another GM vehicle for the rest of our lives!

We're planning on taking GM to small claims court as soon as I recover from my recent hospital stay. The GM lady didn't care that I was going into the hospital for cancer treatment... No sympathy whatsoever.

She didn't care that it cost more to fix our van than our mortgage payment.

I even went so far as to ask her if I could have someone send her my obituary stating that the $1200 we spent could have gone towards my medical care instead of a vehicle that broke down because of GM's full knowledge of the defective part but refusal to issue a recall.

GM can KMA.
