Settlement on Defective Intake Manifolds, Ripoff

Cars & Transport

Important note regarding ford's proposed settlement regarding defective plastic manifold lawsuit.

According to the Notice of Proposed Settlement, Ford will reimburse consumers with receipts for repairs related to the intake manifold. This statement is only partly true. The notice explains that while will reimburse Class Members who have previously paid to replace a composite intake manifold on a Class Vehicle this will be only if the replacement occurred within the first seven years of vehicle operation.

View notice at (link deleted - see below). It has been noted on several websites that the manifolds tend to fail at around 100,000 miles. While, fleet cars and polices vehicles could reach this mileage within seven years, many insurers estimate that the average driver's yearly mileage is around 12,000 miles. It's evident then that many of the Ford manifolds might not fail until perhaps more than nine years after the initial operation of the vehicle. Our manifold failed exactly 7 years and 6 months of the vehicle's operation. How convenient for Ford.

Many who received these notices will not be able to benefit from the settlement. If they do not opt out they will not be able to bring a claim against Ford. We will be pursuing a small claims action. PLEASE LET YOUR READERS KNOW THAT NOT ALL VEHICLES WILL BE COVERED BY THIS SETTLEMENT and that separate action may need to be taken on their part.

Please pass this information on.
