I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and within 2 months I had brake problems. I called the Mel Rapton Honda and the clrek told me that I need to bring it in the first time for a visual inspection. So I took it in and he said that this is NOT a recall, but a design defect and that they will have to order parts and I have to schedule when the parts come in.

The parts came in like 1.5 weeks later and everything went smooth. They replaced everything and did not charge me a dime upfront or after the work.

So I sent my sister with a 2006 Honday Odessey with the same brake problems. I called the rep and he told me to have her bring it in the next day at 10. So today, she takes it @ 10 and they gave her a hard time. First they wanted to charge her $30 upfront because they did not know if this is warrantable or not. Please note that this $30 was never ever discussed during my ENTIRE transaction AND when I personally made th e appointment with "Charlie" the service advisor.

I believe that Mel Rapton treats women differently than men and my basic proof is that BOTH my sister and I have the same situation and they wanted to charge her $30 just to take a look at it when in fact this $30 was not even discussed with my situation or even mentioned when I made the appointment.

When I called back and spoke with a General manager "Theresa Rapton", she explained to me that $30 is charged a precaution to the work just in case the work is NOT covered under warranty. This has something to do with a "law". The funny thing is NOne of this was explained to me or I was not made to pay $30. Did they just change the laws??? Do they make different laws for females???

I had a female with three car seats come into a dealership with a BRAKE problem and she was told to pay up $30 upfron when I was not required to pay???

What plausible explanation is there for this descrepency???

Ms. Rapton was annoyed enough with me to make a note in my customer file that I am NEVER welcome again @ Mel Rapton. She actually left a message on my cell voicemail that I am not welcome again at Mel Rapton and she does not want my business.
