Don't get Direct TV review

Not happy with Direct TV. Their sales pitch is very mis-leading. I signed up for their svc in Jan. During the process I was asked to provide a credit card nbr. I was told that I would not be billed on the card number and would get e-statements for me to pay the bill. Low and behold... I'm signed up for Auto Billing so they're charging my credit card every month. I called to cancel it and was informed that I would have to start paying the $10 per month HD service charge if I didn't want auto bill pay. Very decitful. I was also led to believe that I would get up to 6 receivers for free. I requested two, one is free and the other costs $6 per month. Not to mention that they mess up my bill every month. This month was $10 higher than it typically is, only to find out that they didn't give me the friend referral credit (the $100 "refer a friend" teaser... Yah, they give you $10 credit per month for 10 months.in the end you get $100, but takes a long time to get there)... So, remember the Auto Bill Pay... Yep, an extra $10 is on my credit card this month... Another joke with the Auto Bill Pay is that they charge your account and then a couple days later you get the email statement so you can't dispute the billing charges before they get their money... Like this month for me, they over charged $10. So, what they did was added an extra $10 credit to my account for next month... So I'm paying interest on my credit card for that $10 bucks and they're gaining interest by having it in their account a month early. Makes me wonder how many of their customers were charged an extra $10 this month... Nice money maker for Direct TV. The tv service & channel selection is pretty decent & comparable to cable. With that in mind, I assure you, when my contract expires (18 months to go... Sadly) I'm canceling and going back to Time Warner Cable. If I have to pay roughly the same amount and get roughly the same services with Cable vs. Direct TV, why not do business with a cable company who provides good customer service, doesn't lie to you & doesn't rip you off. I only wish I'd read reviews instead of trusting the friend who referred me to Direct TV only to get the lousy $100 credit.
