Direct TV - terrible customer service, misleading and unethical sales practices - Auto Bill Pay

Direct TV forces you to sign up for automatic payments or face an additional charge of $10.00 per month. This normally would not be an issue except for the fact that they constantly over charge and are entitled to take that money directly from your account. When you call to have their errors fixed, they will only issue a credit to your Direct TV account rather than actually refunding the money to the account from which they stole your money. Their customer service is terrible, forcing you to jump through hours of automated hoops before speaking with an actual live person. The live people they have hired to address their customers are no more useful than the automated system and give out errant information. Even if mistakes are made on their end, they refuse to adequately help the customer to make the situation right.

When I called to cancel my free trial of the HBO and movie channels, I was told I had one month left and they would cancel it next month if I called back. Foolishly trusting the customer service rep, I checked my account several days later and discovered I was overcharged by $45 for the movie package. When I called to refute the charges with Direct TV, they admitted their error and would not refund my money and instead submitted a credit to my Direct TV account towards next month's bill. When I asked to end the auto bill pay so they could not directly take money from me, they informed me this would cost me an extra $10 a month as I have HD service. When I asked to cancel HD service, the then told me I would be left with only 1 receiver. If I wanted aanother receiver, I would be charged $69. Scam!!!
