Lied to Me about a Free Ticket - my flight

I flew on one of JetBlues flights and the airplane had to be returned to the airport for an emergency due to the airplane smelled like it was on fire. I was scared! Worried for my life! The airline gave me a letter stating that I was going to get a free roundtrip ticket another day along with them putting me on another flight. Now I am trying to redeem the supposed flight and they are only giving me a $100 credit. I waited on the phone with the airline for 1 hour to get my ticket and they hung up on me when I wanted to speak to a manager because they did not want to give me the free ticket they said they were going to give me.
