Priceline — Didn't get the discount advertised

Traveling & Tourism

Priceline — never again!

Before making a reservation directly with the Hyatt in Orlando, I checked Priceline.com, and found that they were offering a 13% discount for Florida residents with the advance purchase through them. So I booked with Priceline.com, and paid in full with my credit card, at the time of purchase.

They told me that the regular room rate was $169.00 and with the 13% discount, the rate would be $146.67.

I later discovered that the regular room rate was $149.00 — not $169.00!!! $149.00 less 13% = $129.63.

I called Priceline Customer Service, to get a credit for the difference, and after speaking to a Customer Service Rep who did absolutely nothing about it, I asked to speak to his Manager, who also would do nothing about it. Once they process your credit card, they are done with you, case closed.

So, I was overcharged by Priceline — I didn't get the discount they advertised. I only saved a whopping $2.33 off the regular hotel room rate.

Their Customer Service Department is absolutely worthless. Why do they bother having one at all, if they don't care about good customer relations, and correcting errors that they have made.

So, buyer beware. Before booking hotels with them, check the hotel directly, to see what special deals and rates they are offering, and you don't have to tie up funds in advance on your credit card.
