Hotel booking with Travelocity

When you need to cancel a reservation made through Travelocity, make sure you contact the hotel, etc. First, to determine THEIR cancellation policy. I booked a stay at Days Inn which has a 24 hour-before-arrival cancellation policy. Because I prepaid through Travelocity, I had to cancel through them. They immediately tried to charge me the first night%u2019s stay (my whole trip) because the stay began the next day. They tried to blame this on the hotel. Once I told the agent I had called the hotel FIRST and that based on their policy I would not be charged a fee, he then said he would get a cancellation confirmation from the hotel. He did and then canceled my reservation. If I had not mentioned this, Travelocity would have made money on a hotel bed that was not sold/used. I think this is a deceptive practice. I%u2019m not sure I will use them in the future.
