Scott Bell Ripoff (Sales Manager) Misleading sales practice flat out lied

Shops, Products, Services

On 1/25/04 I purchased a large screen television from Best Buy. The Sales Manager (Scott Bell) was the salesman. He stated that the television that I purchased has up to 3 light bulbs that are "not" covered by the mfg warranty and are approx $3-400.00 apiece. He also stated that the "Best Buy" extended service policy would cover these bulbs and would also cover a house call two times per year to clean the bulbs of dust and basically due preventative maintenance.

I did not purchase the extended warranty on 1/25/04 but after thinking over what Scott Bell had told me, I thought this would be a great thing to have. I went to the store on 1/28/04 and purchased the extended service policy for $249.99. After getting home and reviewing the policy it stated that you would have to bring the tv into the store for this cleaning. There was no way that I would be willing to transport a 55" television into the store two times per year especially when Scott told me they would come to the house to do the job.

I proceeded to call the home office and then was told that the light bulbs were "not" covered like he stated and neither was the preventative maintenance cleaning. All they said was they were sorry and offered me a $25.00 gift certificate for my trouble. These types of sales practices are absolutely intolerable and I will "never" shop there again for any reason and will do everything I can to let others know what kind of store this is. The sad thing is that I truly believed in Scott and what he told me only to find out that it was all a total lie just to sell an extended service agreement.

Thank you for your time and I believe that everyone should be aware of their business practices.in addition I was on the phone for over 2 hours trying to let someone know and find someone that cared without luck.
