Salesman lies about extended warranty

On Jan 21 I purchased a HDTV made by Toshiba Model # 50HM66 from American TV, I was talked into purchasing an extended 3 year warranty for 199.00, I was told by the salesman that it was a must have extended warranty based solely on the fact that most bulbs only last 2 to 3 years and if I ever had a bulb go bad that the warranty would be covered and would be offset by the cost of the warranty. However today, I just found out that this is not the case. The bulb blew just after 14 months of very light use, This HDTV was purchased as a secondary TV. A rep named Kirk from American TV told me that BULBS are not covered, I was told to look in my Guarantee Plan to see the disclaimer. To my amazement he was right. It really upset me that I was lied to by one of the salesman from American TV. These salesmen will tell you anything for a sale. At the time of the offer for the extended warranty I was not given a copy of the plan to look over. I only received the Plan after the purchase. I was told by Kirk (American TV) to contact Toshiba to see if they would rectify the situation and I was again turned down because the Manufacture warranty is only good for 1 year. The Rep from Toshiba expresses his sympathy but could not offer any help. He did ask for the store name because he said that companies like Best Buy and Circuit city cover the cost of bulb replacements under their extended warranties and was surprised that American TV does not.

Bottom line most manufactures and dealers will of some sort of courtesy repair when a warranty just expired.

In this case neither one is will to help. Please return the favour by not giving them your money.
